Commitment #6!

I'm delighted to announce that we've received our first commitment from a church group east of the Atlantic -- more specifically the East Grinstead area of England. It was a pleasure for my family to spend some time in that lovely area on our trip last fall.

That makes commitment #6 to stage "The First Christmas" this year. Here's the updated list thus far:

1. A church group in Brisbane, Australia
2. A church group in Tasmania, Australia
3. A church group in Devon, Alberta, Canada
4. A high school in Utah, USA
5. A church group in Anaheim, California, USA
6. A church group in East Grinstead, England

We are still looking for six more brave groups to stage the production during its inaugural year.

Hi, we are the English ward commited to produce this show (I know the name kind of gives it away!!) We are all complete amateurs at this, and would welcome suggestions from anyone and everyone to help us along, although we are confident that it is going to be great!

Hello, England! Welcome aboard. Wonderful to have you here. Last year, a brave church group in Alberta put on the inaugural run of the first Liken, "Nephi & Laban." It was directed by an amazing young man, who tackled this project while he was taking a heavy college load. Despite all that, he put together what I think is an incredible resource breaking down how he did it. I think it would be an invaluable tool for those considering staging this production, even though it was a different production and for his church group. I will work on posting a PDF version of that resource here, if that sounds like it would be of interest.

Hi there Everyone,

My name is Robert Dil. I am a 24 year old, young married man from Christchurch, New Zealand. I have just recieved the go ahead from my Stake this morning to put on "The First Christmas" in December of this year.

I am really excited. I have just been on the phone with Tom Larson from Lightstone who has taken my details. So, I guess it is official now!!

I am excited to be a part of the premiere New Zealand group to produce this show and one of the premiere Australasian groups in this inaugural year!!

I will be directing this show and probably will end up on stage as well :)

Just to let you know about myself and musical background here are some "interesting??" facts about myself...

The best thing is that I have been married for just over two years to my best friend Erin :)

I have a degree in Music (Performance Clarinet) and with Clarinet I have been really blessed to be able to do alot of professional work playing in the orechestra's for musical theatre shows and classical work with the Christchurch Symphony.

I sing and dance and I minored in Drama at university. Currently I am doing a Graduate diploma in teaching and learning to become a Primary School Teacher. The aim is to do Arts specialization mostly :)

I was recently on stage in the NZ premiere of an all new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cats" which was an absolutely amazing experience. If I can work out how to include a photo from that here I will but I am not the most technologically minded ;)

I am looking forward to the challenge of this show. It really will be a growing exoperience. I am looking forward to everyone's advice and ideas and sharing my own as well- if I have anything worth contributing!!?

Thank you for enduring with what has turned into an epistle...

Rob :)

Hello New Zealand! And thank you Dennis for the journal resource, I'm sure it will be handy!

Sadly I am not able to make a huge contribution to the English production (mum to 2 very little ones - they need me more), which will be my loss I know. But I have passed stuff on to a very capable and brilliant lady (mum to Sarah McFarlane for the benefit of anyone at Liken who knows them), and hope I can be involved in some of the backstage help. I'd love to be in it - but even my almost 3yr old tells me to stop singing, so I won't be auditioning for a singing part where I might actually be heard! But I wish everyone luck, and if I get to help out the English production, I might be back from time to time with questions!

Hi Guys, I would really value some assistance in terms of flyer design etc. We are performing in Tasmania and I would love to get a hand in getting the promotion going. We have had some walk throughs with all the cast and crew and are really excited how this will pan out.
Thanks Joe
